Hingham, located in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, is a small town with a rich history dating back to 1846 when its primary dam, a gravity type structure, was completed on the Onion River. This dam serves multiple purposes including recreation and water storage, with a normal storage capacity of 80 acre-feet and a drainage area of 34 square miles. The dam stands at 11 feet tall with a hydraulic height of 8 feet and a length of 500 feet, providing a surface area of 38 acres for water enthusiasts to enjoy.

Managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WIDNR), Hingham Dam is classified as low hazard potential with a fair condition assessment as of May 2020. Despite its low hazard potential, the risk assessment for this dam is very high, indicating the need for ongoing monitoring and risk management measures. The last inspection date was in August 2012, with inspections occurring every 10 years to ensure the dam's structural integrity and safety. With its controlled spillway and historical significance, Hingham Dam remains a crucial water resource for the local community and a hotspot for outdoor activities in the area.
