About the guest river

The Guest River is a 35-mile long tributary of the Clinch River located in southwestern Virginia. Historically, the area was used for coal mining and logging, leading to significant environmental degradation. Today, efforts are being made to restore the river and its surrounding ecosystem. The river is fed by several small streams and has a hydroelectric dam, the Guest River Gorge Dam. The river is also home to the Guest River Gorge Trail, which offers hiking and mountain biking opportunities. The reservoirs along the river, including the Guest River Gorge Reservoir and the Flannagan Reservoir, provide recreational opportunities for fishing and boating. Additionally, the river and its tributaries support agriculture, including livestock grazing and hay production.
