About the little wind river

The Little Wind River is a 90-mile tributary of the Wind River in Wyoming. It was historically used by the Shoshone and Arapaho tribes for fishing and hunting. The river's hydrology is influenced by snowmelt and precipitation. It flows through several reservoirs, including Boysen Reservoir and Pilot Butte Reservoir, which were constructed in the 1950s for irrigation and flood control purposes. The Boysen Dam, built in 1952, is located on the river and is used for hydropower generation. The river is also important for recreational activities such as fishing and boating. Agriculturally, the river is used for irrigation in the surrounding farmland. Despite being a relatively small river, the Little Wind River has had a significant impact on the development and management of water resources in Wyoming.
