About the nolin river

The Nolin River is a 104-mile-long river in Kentucky, USA. It is named after Captain Nolin, who explored the area in the 18th century. The river flows through Edmonson, Grayson, and Hart counties and is a tributary of the Green River. The Nolin River is known for its clear water, scenic beauty, and recreational opportunities, including canoeing and fishing. However, several reservoirs and dams have been constructed along the river for flood control, water supply, and hydroelectric power generation. The most significant of these is the Nolin River Lake, which was created by the Nolin River Dam in 1963. The lake provides water for nearby farms and communities, as well as recreational opportunities such as boating and camping. Despite these uses, concerns have been raised about the impact of damming on the ecology of the river and its surrounding areas.
