About the yantic river


The Yantic River is a 21-mile long river in eastern Connecticut that flows through several towns including Norwich, Bozrah, and Sprague. The river has a rich history as it was used for transportation and industry during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, the river is used for recreational purposes such as fishing, boating, and hiking. The river is fed by several tributaries and ultimately flows into the Thames River. There are several reservoirs and dams along the Yantic River, including the Yantic Falls Dam and the Taftville Reservoir. These reservoirs are used for drinking water supply and flood control.
