About the Area


The Cairngorms mountain range is the main mountain range that the Cairngorm-Aviemore ski resort is located in. This range is part of the Grampian Mountains and is the highest and most extensive mountain range in Scotland.

Some of the notable peaks within the Cairngorms range that are near the ski resort include:

The ski resort itself is situated on the northern slopes of Cairn Gorm, offering a variety of ski runs, slopes, and terrain suitable for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. The resort also provides stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the Cairngorms National Park.

Its best trails are the Ptarmigan Bowl, which offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, and the Carpark Run, which is perfect for beginners. The resort is also home to a funicular railway, which takes visitors to the top of the mountain for even more spectacular views. An interesting fact about Cairngorm is that it was used as a training ground for the British Olympic skiing team in the 1960s.
