About the Area
Makomanai Ski Resort is located in Sapporo, Japan. The resort is situated at the base of Mount Moiwa, which offers stunning views of the surrounding area. Additionally, the resort is near the Makomanai Park, which features a variety of outdoor activities and amenities. The ski resort itself features several ski runs and lifts, as well as a snow park for snowboarding and freestyle skiing.
The resort boasts 15 trails, with the best being the Olympic course, which was used during the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics. In addition, the resort features a snow park for those interested in freestyle skiing and snowboarding. A little-known fact about the resort is that it was built on an old landfill site, making it one of the few ski resorts in the world to be built on top of garbage. For beginner skiers, the resort offers the Family Course, which is a wide and gentle slope perfect for learning. After a day on the slopes, the best apres ski bar is the Lodge Makomanai, known for its cozy atmosphere and delicious food.
