Maxwell-Gunter AFB Military Camping Area in Alabama offers beautiful surrounding views of the Gunter Mountains, as well as easy access to nearby points of interest like the Montgomery Zoo and the Civil Rights Memorial. The campground amenities include full hookups, laundry facilities, restrooms, and showers. The campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and there are 25 sites for RVs, pop-up campers, and tents. The best time of year to visit the campground is from September to November when the temperatures range from the mid-70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit. However, it's important to note that this is a military campground and priority is given to active-duty military members and their families.
