The best time to visit Desert View campground is during the spring and fall months when the weather is milder and more comfortable for outdoor activities. Summers can be hot, with temperatures reaching over 100°F (37°C), while winters can be very cold, with snow and freezing temperatures.
While camping at Desert View, visitors can explore the nearby Desert View Watchtower, which offers panoramic views of the Grand Canyon and is a great spot for photography. Hiking trails, including the popular South Kaibab and Bright Angel trails, are accessible from the campground. Additionally, visitors should be cautious of wild animals such as squirrels and ravens, which may be attracted to food left unattended.
