While the cabin itself requires reservations through Recreation.gov and charges a nightly fee, adjacent dispersed sites are free and first-come, first-served (no permits required). Amenities at the cabin include a pit toilet, picnic tables, fire ring, and non-potable water (bring your own or treat). No hookups or RV access. Surrounded by dense spruce-fir forest with access to hiking, fishing, and OHV trails in the Fossil Ridge Wilderness and Gunnison National Forest. Best visited late June–September for mild weather and trail access.
