Johnson Creek Recreation Area in southern Illinois offers established campsites within the Shawnee National Forest near Kinkaid Lake. Campsites are first-come, first-served—no reservations needed. RVs are allowed, but there are no hookups. The campground is forested and peaceful, popular with anglers, hikers, and boaters.
