Tenkiller State Park is a beautiful camping destination located in Oklahoma. One quirky fact about the area is that the lake was created in the 1950s when the Army Corps of Engineers dammed the Illinois River. The lake was named after the Tenkiller Ferry, which was the only way to cross the Illinois River before the dam was built.
