Lake Alto is a 573-acre freshwater lake located near Gainesville, Florida. The lake is known for its excellent bass fishing, but anglers can also catch black crappie, bluegill, and redear sunfish. Nearby activities include hiking, camping, and birdwatching at nearby state parks. Fishing tips include using live bait or soft plastic lures and targeting weed beds and drop-offs. The best time of year to visit is in the spring or fall when temperatures range from the mid-60s to mid-80s.
