Skeels Lake is a popular fishing destination located in northern Michigan. The lake is stocked with rainbow and brown trout, as well as smallmouth bass and bluegill. Nearby activities include hiking, camping, and bird watching. Fishing tips include using live bait, spinners, or flies. The best time to visit is during the summer months when temperatures average in the mid-70s. The fall season is also popular for fishing as the temperatures cool and the leaves change colors.

FEATURED FISH - AMERICAN EEL

The following are fishing methods used to catch this fish: The body is snakelike and the head is pointed. The dorsal, caudal and anal fins are combined into one long, continuous fin. The eel’s coloration is dark gray to olive above and yellowish or white on the underside. The average size typically ranges in the range of two feet, although larger specimens may grow upwards of three feet. There have been a few rare occurrences of American eels ranging upwards of five feet.
