...SNOW SHOWERS CONTINUE FOR YAKUTAT INTO THURSDAY... .A low in the gulf is continuing to send bands of snow showers into the Yakutat area. The heaviest snow rates will fall this morning with moderate to heavy showers continuing into the evening. There will be times of lighter showers late this morning before slightly heavier rates begin again. Precipitation is expected to clear out by Thursday evening. Please stay tuned for future updates. Local municipalities have alerted residents of an elevated avalanche risk. Also, check on any boats, planes, or out buildings that may be at risk due to snow accumulations. * WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. * WHERE...City and Borough of Yakutat. * WHEN...Until 6 PM AKST this evening. * IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Bands of showers are moving into the northern coast. As these bands move through, Yakutat will see periods of heavy snowfall continue into Thursday evening.
