The Lower Rome to Leslie Gulch river run on the Owyhee River in Oregon is a challenging and remote backcountry experience. This section of the river is known for its tight canyons, swift currents, and numerous rapids, including Class III and IV. The best time to float this section is in the spring, during peak runoff when the water levels are high, and the rapids are at their most exciting. The recommended flow rate for this section is between 500 and 1000 cfs. Some of the main obstacles to watch out for include tight, technical rapids, sharp rock formations, and narrow canyons with limited room for maneuvering. This run requires advanced paddling skills and is not recommended for beginners.
