Kings Beach State Recreation Area, located on Lake Tahoe's north shore in California (not Nevada), is known for its wide sandy beach, crystal-clear waters, and panoramic lake and mountain views.
It's popular for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, and picnicking. Open year-round (day-use only), summer is best for water activities. Parking fees apply (around $10 in summer). While there are no major hiking trails within the park, nearby trails offer scenic lake vistas. Wildlife includes mule deer and waterfowl. A top sunset spot, it's also close to dark-sky areas. Note: no camping, and dogs are not allowed on the beach.
