The Li'l Buttercup is a historic paddlewheel boat located in the Salton Sea watershed of California. It was built in 1908 and was initially used for mining and transportation in the Colorado River. Later on, it was bought by the Southern Pacific Railroad and was used as a ferryboat between the Salton Sea and Yuma, Arizona. In 1950, it was abandoned and left to rot by the shore of the Salton Sea. However, in 1999, it was restored and can now be visited by tourists who are interested in the history of the Salton Sea and paddlewheel boats.
The Li'l Buttercup is a unique attraction in the Salton Sea area and is definitely worth a visit. Visitors can take a tour of the boat and learn about its history, and also take in the beautiful views of the Salton Sea from the boat. The Salton Sea itself is also a unique attraction, as it is one of the largest inland seas in California and is known for its beautiful sunsets and birdwatching opportunities. Additionally, visitors can explore the nearby Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge, which is a habitat for over 400 species of birds. Overall, the Li'l Buttercup and the Salton Sea area are great destinations for history buffs, nature enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to experience a unique part of California.
