The combination of recent dry conditions and 10-hour fuel moisture between 8 and 12 percent, relative humidity falling to 20 to 35 percent, and westerly winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 30 to 40 mph will result in an elevated threat for the rapid spread of fires between about 11 AM and 8 PM Saturday. The threat is greatest over the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, the northern and central Virginia Blue Ridge, the north-central Virginia piedmont near and west of Highway 15, and the eastern West Virginia panhandle near and west of Interstate 81. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly grow out of control under these conditions.
