The river has several tributaries, including the Paint Creek and Stony Creek, and is impounded by the Yates Dam. Seasonally, the river experiences the highest flow rates during the spring snowmelt and heavy rainfall events. Interestingly, the Clinton River was once heavily polluted with industrial waste, pesticides, and sewage, but has since undergone extensive cleanup efforts and is now home to a variety of fish species, including trout and bass.
