Weather today, Tomorrow,
The main constituents of this river are surface runoff, groundwater, and precipitation. There are no significant tributaries or dams that affect the flow of the river. The seasonal trends of the river show higher flows during the spring due to snowmelt and lower flows during the summer and fall. Interestingly, the Flint River had high levels of lead contamination in 2014 due to a change in the city's water source. This caused a public health crisis and resulted in the declaration of a State of Emergency. Since then, efforts have been made to improve the water quality of the river.
