Olympus, located in Larimer, Colorado, is a Federal-owned hydroelectric dam on the Big Thompson River with a primary purpose of generating hydroelectric power and providing irrigation water. Built in 1948 by the Bureau of Reclamation, this Earth-type dam stands at a height of 70 feet and has a hydraulic height of 45 feet, with a storage capacity of 3068 acre-feet. The dam's spillway, a controlled type, is 23 feet wide, allowing for a maximum discharge of 21200 cubic feet per second.

With a Hazard Potential rating of High and a Risk Assessment indicating Very High risk, Olympus is subject to regular state inspection, enforcement, and permitting by the Colorado Division of Water Resources. The dam underwent modifications in 1992 for hydraulic and other purposes.
