Frd No 20, also known as Timber Creek Watershed, is a crucial water resource project located in Cowley County, Kansas. Owned by the local government, this dam serves the primary purpose of flood risk reduction and was completed in 1969. With a dam height of 37 feet and a hydraulic height of 34 feet, Frd No 20 has a storage capacity of 3,246.91 acre-feet and covers a surface area of 31.94 acres.

Managed by the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Frd No 20 is state-regulated and subject to regular inspections and enforcement. The dam is designed as an earth dam with a buttress core type, providing critical flood protection for the surrounding area. With a high hazard potential and moderate risk assessment, Frd No 20 plays a vital role in safeguarding Lower Dutch Creek and the surrounding community from potential flooding events.

Despite not being rated for its condition assessment, Frd No 20 remains a key infrastructure project in the region, with a spillway width of 40 feet and a maximum discharge capacity of 1,780 cubic feet per second. As climate change continues to impact water resources and increase the frequency of extreme weather events, the importance of maintaining and updating structures like Frd No 20 only grows.
