Located in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, the Elsea dam on Pump Creek was completed in 1984 by the USDA NRCS for the primary purpose of recreation. This earth dam stands at a height of 29 feet and spans 280 feet in length, with a storage capacity of 65 acre-feet. The dam serves multiple purposes including fire protection, stock, and small fish pond in addition to recreation.

With a low hazard potential and moderate risk assessment, the Elsea dam is currently rated as being in "Not Available" condition. The dam features uncontrolled spillways and outlets, with a surface area of 4 acres and a drainage area of 0.44 square miles. Despite its modest size, the dam plays a crucial role in water resource management in the region and provides opportunities for outdoor recreation for locals and visitors alike.
