Hoelting Dam, located in Nuckolls, Nebraska, is a privately owned structure designed by the USDA NRCS for the primary purpose of flood risk reduction. Completed in 1974, this earth dam stands at a height of 42 feet and has a hydraulic height of 41 feet, helping to control the flow of the TR-LIBERTY CREEK. With a storage capacity of 1898 acre-feet and a drainage area of 5.9 square miles, the dam plays a crucial role in mitigating the impact of potential flooding events in the region.

Managed by the NE DNR and subject to state regulation, the Hoelting Dam has a low hazard potential and a satisfactory condition assessment. The dam's last inspection in September 2019 confirmed its structural integrity, with an inspection frequency of every five years. While the dam does not have spillway type or outlet gates, its design and construction by the Natural Resources Conservation Service ensure effective flood control measures for the surrounding area. As a key component of the local water resource infrastructure, Hoelting Dam contributes to the overall resilience of the community in the face of changing climate patterns and water management challenges.
