Built in 1969 by SPROUT ENGINEERS & ASSOCIATES INC., this dam serves primarily for recreation purposes, including fish and wildlife pond activities. Situated along Kingston Creek, the dam stands at a height of 34 feet and has a maximum storage capacity of 190 acre-feet, covering a surface area of 16.5 acres.
With a structural height of 41 feet and a hydraulic height of 28 feet, Kingston Canyon Dam is classified as a high hazard potential structure with fair condition assessment. Its spillway, measuring 40 feet in width, is of the uncontrolled type. The dam has undergone modifications in 2000 to enhance its hydraulic and structural aspects.
