Lavon Lake is located in Texas and was created in 1953 as a result of the construction of the Lavon Dam. The lake serves as a reservoir for water supply to the North Texas Municipal Water District. The hydrology of the lake is influenced by rainfall and surface runoff from surrounding areas. The surface flow is maintained by releases from the dam and water from the East Fork of the Trinity River. The snowpack providers for the lake are minimal as Texas does not receive significant snowfall. The lake also serves as a recreational area for fishing, boating, and camping. In addition, the surrounding agricultural areas utilize the water from the lake for irrigation purposes.
