Completed in 1914, the earth dam stands at a height of 32 feet and has a hydraulic height of 25 feet, providing a maximum storage capacity of 570 acre-feet. The lake covers a surface area of 122 acres and is fed by TR-Caddo Creek.
Managed by the local government and regulated by the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, Lake Ardmore has a controlled spillway and a low hazard potential.
