Iversen Number 1 is a privately owned dam located in Jones, South Dakota, along the TR-BAD RIVER.
Built in 1959 by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, this earth-type dam stands at a height of 25 feet and has a total length of 479 feet. It has a maximum storage capacity of 61 acre-feet and a normal storage capacity of 44 acre-feet, with a maximum discharge rate of 966 cubic feet per second.
Despite being classified as having a low hazard potential, Iversen Number 1 is regulated by the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources and undergoes regular inspections, permitting, and enforcement activities. The dam has not been rated for its condition assessment, and there is no emergency action plan in place yet.
