Built in 1963 by the USDA NRCS, this earth dam sits on the Fay Branch and is primarily used for fish and wildlife conservation as well as recreational activities. With a structural height of 20 feet and a hydraulic height of 17.5 feet, the dam has a storage capacity of 82 acre-feet and covers a surface area of 7.5 acres.
Despite being unregulated by the state, Morgan Lake has a low hazard potential and is considered to have a moderate risk level. The dam has not been rated for its condition as of the last inspection in May 2017, but it is inspected every 5 years to ensure its integrity. With no outlet gates and an uncontrolled spillway, the dam poses minimal risk to downstream areas. While there are no associated structures with the dam, its location in a picturesque setting offers a serene environment for wildlife enthusiasts and outdoor enthusiasts alike to enjoy.
