Duck Pond in Campbell, Wyoming, is a privately owned earth dam designed by Hugh Lowham in 2002 for irrigation purposes. Located on SA Creek off-channel, this dam stands at a height of 16 feet with a hydraulic height of 3 feet and a structural height of 16 feet. It has a storage capacity of 278 acre-feet, with a normal storage of 157 acre-feet and a surface area of 24 acres.
Despite being classified as having a low hazard potential and fair condition assessment, Duck Pond is regulated, permitted, inspected, and enforced by the State of Wyoming. The dam has no associated structures and is primarily used for irrigation, fire protection, stock, and as a small fish pond. Although it has not been modified in recent years, the last inspection in July 2019 noted that it meets safety guidelines and is regularly maintained.
While Duck Pond may not be the largest or most complex dam, its importance in providing water resources for agricultural and environmental purposes cannot be understated.
