The Huff Hills Ski Resort in North Dakota is located within the Turtle Mountains, which is a small mountain range in the northern part of the state. The highest point in the Turtle Mountains is Mount Rattler, which reaches an elevation of 2,130 feet. Despite being relatively low in elevation compared to other mountain ranges, the Turtle Mountains provide a unique skiing experience in North Dakota. Huff Hills ski resort in North Dakota offers 20 runs, with the best trails being the black diamond runs such as Timberline and Ridge Run. An interesting fact about the resort is that it was originally built by the Bismarck Ski Club in the 1950s, with the first ski lift being a rope tow powered by a Model T engine. For beginner skiers, the Easy Street run is recommended, with a gentle slope and easy access to the beginner area. The best apres ski bar is the Saloon, located in the base lodge, offering drinks and snacks in a cozy atmosphere.
