About the Area


Big White Ski Resort in British Columbia is located in the Monashee Mountains, which are part of the Columbia Mountain range. The resort is known for its diverse terrain, including steep alpine slopes, glades, and groomed runs. Some of the notable peaks in the area include Big White Mountain, which is the highest point in the resort at 2,319 meters (7,608 feet) above sea level. Other prominent features of the resort include the Cliff Chair, which offers access to challenging terrain, and the Powder Chair, which provides access to deep powder runs.

The resort boasts the largest night skiing area in Western Canada and an interesting fact is that the resort was originally planned as a retirement community. For beginners, the best suggestion is to head to the Happy Valley area where there are plenty of easy runs and a dedicated learning area. For après ski, the Gunbarrel Saloon is the go-to spot with live music, a cozy atmosphere, and great drinks.
