The resort is also home to a well-maintained terrain park with a variety of features. An interesting fact about Mont Saint-Mathieu is that it was named after Saint Mathieu Island, which was discovered by Jacques Cartier in 1534. For beginners, the resort suggests trying the La Pente Douce trail, which is a gentle slope ideal for learning to ski. After skiing, Le Pub is a popular après-ski bar with a cozy atmosphere, a variety of drinks, and live music on weekends.

Terrain mix: Mont-Saint-Mathieu ski resort is located in the Notre-Dame Mountains in eastern Quebec, Canada. The resort features several mountain ranges, including Mont-Saint-Mathieu itself, which has an elevation of 750 meters (2,460 feet) and offers a vertical drop of 305 meters (1,000 feet). Other nearby mountain ranges include Mont Olivine, Mont Bleu, and Mont de la Croix.

147 FXUS61 KCAR 020532 AFDCAR Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Caribou ME 132 AM EDT Tue Jun 2 2026 .WHAT HAS CHANGED... - Confidence is low on thunderstorm development today. && .KEY MESSAGES... 1) Scattered to isolated afternoon showers, along with possibly a rumble of thunder this afternoon across Downeast. 2) 2) Much warmer Wednesday through Friday, with two dry days in a row area wide Wednesday and Thursday. && .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGE 1...Scattered to isolated afternoon showers, along with possibly a rumble of thunder this afternoon across Downeast. KEY MESSAGE 1 DESCRIPTION... A weak low pressure system will close off today and start to track SE. The low will develop a weak cold front across the south. Upper air model soundings indicate 2 different scenarios. The first scenario follows the RAP model where the cold front develops slower, thus the onshore marine flow collides with the front. This creates showers and thunderstorms over the Bangor Region and Interior Downeast that progress south throughout the afternoon. The second scenario follows the NAM model where the cold front develops faster, thus the onshore marine flow collides with the front closer to Coastal Downeast and the waters. Nevertheless, there will be instability with this front, so cannot rule out isolated thunderstorms. However, confidence is low, so did not include storms in the forecast. In addition, models indicate very dry air ahead of the front, which could inhibit the development of any showers or the majority of rain would fall as virga. KEY MESSAGE 2...Much warmer Wednesday through Friday, with two dry days in a row areawide Wednesday and Thursday. KEY MESSAGE 2 DESCRIPTION... Ridging begins to build in on Wednesday as high pressure settles into the Midwest. Daytime highs will climb to near 80 on Wednesday and well into the 80s on Thursday over inland areas. With onshore flow expected each afternoon, the immediate coast and outer islands should remain in the 60s and lower 70s. Cold front will bring clouds and showers to the north on Friday but temps will still be able to rise into the 70s. Interior Downeast fcst to climb into the lower 80s for Friday. Rain returns to the region Friday afternoon. && .AVIATION /06Z TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/... Today...Mainly VFR for all terminals. Possible MVFR in any rain showers over BHB, but low confidence kept it out of the forecast. N winds 5-10 kts. Tonight-Wednesday...VFR. Mountain & avalanche safety

Know before you go
Check today's avalanche bulletin from the regional avalanche center before any off-piste / side-country / backcountry travel. Conditions can shift dramatically between morning and afternoon on storm days.
Carry the gear, know how to use it
Beacon, shovel, probe. Practice companion rescue on a calm day, not during a real burial.
Mind the weather window
Heavy snow + wind builds wind slabs at ridgelines. The day after a storm is often the riskiest in the backcountry, even if the resort itself is open.
Respect closed terrain
Ropes are there for a reason. Even in-bounds, ducking a closure can trigger a slide that catches you and others below.

FAQ

About Mont Saint-Mathieu

Where does the snow data for Mont Saint-Mathieu come from?

Snowpack, SWE, 24-hour snowfall, and air temperature come from the nearest USDA NRCS SNOTEL station. Forecast comes from the National Weather Service / yr.no feed that Snoflo's iOS app uses.

How often is the snow report updated?

Snowpack and SNOTEL data are updated continuously by NRCS (typically hourly). The 15-day weather forecast is refreshed throughout the day. Snoflo caches and renders the most recent observation -- look for the "as of" timestamp on the snowpack hero.

What's the elevation at Mont Saint-Mathieu?

See the Resort Metrics panel above for base / summit / vertical drop. The summit elevation drives snowpack accumulation -- higher summits hold snow longer through spring.

How is "% of normal" calculated?

Today's snowpack is compared to the average snowpack on this calendar day across every recorded year at the nearest SNOTEL. 100% means right on average; 130% is a big year; 60% is thin.

What ski resorts are near Mont Saint-Mathieu?

See the Other Ski Areas pill grid at the bottom of the page for resorts within driving distance. The sister Other Ski Areas card in the Plan-a-longer-trip grid above shows the closest few.

Can I get alerts when fresh snow hits?

Yes -- snow alerts are managed in the Snoflo iOS app. Favorite this resort, set a snowfall threshold (e.g. "alert me when 6+ inches"), and you'll get a push the moment the SNOTEL crosses.
