Issued at 407 AM EDT Sat Sep 5 2026 - A few showers are possible today Feel most areas will remain dry today, but it is not out of the realm of possibilities to see a few light showers today. Current regional radar loops confirm a showers continue across the area despite the deeper convection pushing south an hour or two ago. The showers will be associated with weak shortwave dropping south through the northern flow aloft. Residual moisture hangs on into at least the midday hours before drier air sweeps in this afternoon and evening. Only have 20-30 pct chances for a shower mainly this morning. - High confidence in dry weather this afternoon through Tuesday BUFKIT overviews and ensemble members of the GFS and ECMWF confirm that there is very little chance for precipitation in our area from this evening through Tuesday. For those that have received heavy rain in the last 3-5 days it will give those areas a chance to dry out. - Temperatures to be fairly close to normals through the period Temperatures will be close to normal for this time of year through the 7 day forecast period (Normals for today: highs in the upper 70s / lows in the upper 50s). We will see highs push into the 80s once again early next week in the southerly flow ahead of a mid week cold front. && .AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z SUNDAY/... Issued at 259 AM EDT Sat Sep 5 2026 A stationary front has sagged south of the area early this Saturday morning. A final round of showers and thunderstorms occurred with the front in the past 4 hours, but this has moved south/weakened and only a few light showers remain possible through daybreak. Increasingly drier air will move into the TAF sites today and tonight on northeast winds. The main item of note however in this TAF period will occur the remainder of the night and into Saturday morning...low clouds and some light fog. The low clouds have variable bases ranging from LIFR to MVFR. We expect the lowest ceilings to occur through sunrise or roughly 11z to 12z. Through the daylight hours of Saturday morning we should see ceilings and visibilities lift reaching VFR levels during the early to mid afternoon. && .MARINE... Issued at 407 AM EDT Sat Sep 5 2026 Conditions are expected to remain below advisory levels on Lake Michigan as high pressure will dominate Great Lakes weather through Monday. Mountain & avalanche safety

Know before you go
Check today's avalanche bulletin from the regional avalanche center before any off-piste / side-country / backcountry travel. Conditions can shift dramatically between morning and afternoon on storm days.
Carry the gear, know how to use it
Beacon, shovel, probe. Practice companion rescue on a calm day, not during a real burial.
Mind the weather window
Heavy snow + wind builds wind slabs at ridgelines. The day after a storm is often the riskiest in the backcountry, even if the resort itself is open.
Respect closed terrain
Ropes are there for a reason. Even in-bounds, ducking a closure can trigger a slide that catches you and others below.

FAQ

About Mulligan's Hollow Ski Bowl

Where does the snow data for Mulligan's Hollow Ski Bowl come from?

Snowpack, SWE, 24-hour snowfall, and air temperature come from the nearest USDA NRCS SNOTEL station. Forecast comes from the National Weather Service / yr.no feed that Snoflo's iOS app uses.

How often is the snow report updated?

Snowpack and SNOTEL data are updated continuously by NRCS (typically hourly). The 15-day weather forecast is refreshed throughout the day. Snoflo caches and renders the most recent observation -- look for the "as of" timestamp on the snowpack hero.

What's the elevation at Mulligan's Hollow Ski Bowl?

See the Resort Metrics panel above for base / summit / vertical drop. The summit elevation drives snowpack accumulation -- higher summits hold snow longer through spring.

How is "% of normal" calculated?

Today's snowpack is compared to the average snowpack on this calendar day across every recorded year at the nearest SNOTEL. 100% means right on average; 130% is a big year; 60% is thin.

What ski resorts are near Mulligan's Hollow Ski Bowl?

See the Other Ski Areas pill grid at the bottom of the page for resorts within driving distance. The sister Other Ski Areas card in the Plan-a-longer-trip grid above shows the closest few.

Can I get alerts when fresh snow hits?

Yes -- snow alerts are managed in the Snoflo iOS app. Favorite this resort, set a snowfall threshold (e.g. "alert me when 6+ inches"), and you'll get a push the moment the SNOTEL crosses.
