The campground sits in a scenic, forested valley along Elk Creek, offering a peaceful, high-alpine experience with views of the San Juan Mountains. Nearby, explore the Alpine Loop, Uncompahgre Wilderness, and trails to American Basin or Handies Peak (a 14er). Best visited June–September for warm days, cool nights, and peak wildflower season. Reservations recommended in summer.
