The Willows Camping Area is situated in the San Juan National Forest in southwestern Colorado, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The area is surrounded by dense forests of ponderosa pine, spruce, and aspen trees, providing an excellent setting for camping and outdoor activities. Nearby points of interest include the Mesa Verde National Park, Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, and the historic town of Durango.
The campground amenities include picnic tables, fire pits, and vault toilets. It is a first-come, first-serve campground with a total of 16 campsites available. An interesting fact about the area is that it was used as a filming location for the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
