Summary

The campground offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, particularly during the fall when the leaves change colors. Nearby points of interest include the Anna Ruby Falls, which is just a short drive away, as well as the Alpine Helen village, which offers unique shopping, dining, and entertainment options.

The campground includes 82 campsites, all with water and electric hookups, as well as restrooms and hot showers. Camping is available on a first-come-first-serve basis, but reservations can also be made in advance. There are also several hiking trails in the area, including a trail to the top of nearby Mount Yonah.

An interesting fact about the area is that it was once home to a thriving gold mining industry in the late 1800s, with several mines operating in the surrounding hills. Visitors can still see evidence of this history, including old mine shafts and equipment.

The best time of year to visit Unicoi State Park is in the fall, when the leaves change colors and the weather is cool and crisp. Average temperatures during this time range from the mid-50s to the low 70s.

Know Before You Go
Check weather, fire restrictions, trail conditions, and permit requirements to ensure a safe and well-planned trip.
Minimize Campfire Impact
Use established fire rings, keep fires small, fully extinguish them, or opt for a camp stove when fires are restricted.
Leave What You Find
Preserve natural and cultural features by avoiding removal of plants, rocks, artifacts, or other elements of the environment.
