F10 Campground in Minnesota’s Superior National Forest offers rustic, first-come, first-served dispersed camping with no established campsites, reservations, or fees.

Summary

There are no toilets, water, or hookups—campers must be fully self-sufficient. Fire rings and picnic tables are not guaranteed. Accessible by high-clearance vehicles, the area is remote and forested with serene views, surrounded by boreal woods and near the scenic Echo Trail. Popular with solitude-seeking backpackers and paddlers, it’s a peaceful base for exploring nearby hiking and canoe routes like those in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Best visited in summer through early fall for easier access and milder weather.

Camping Essential Practices

Pack It In, Pack It Out
Take all trash, food scraps, and gear back with you to keep campsites clean and protect wildlife.
Respect Wildlife
Observe animals from a distance, store food securely, and never feed wildlife to maintain natural behavior and safety.
Know Before You Go
Check weather, fire restrictions, trail conditions, and permit requirements to ensure a safe and well-planned trip.
Minimize Campfire Impact
Use established fire rings, keep fires small, fully extinguish them, or opt for a camp stove when fires are restricted.
Leave What You Find
Preserve natural and cultural features by avoiding removal of plants, rocks, artifacts, or other elements of the environment.
