About this campground

Elliott Creek

Elliott Creek camping area in Colorado offers dispersed camping only—no established sites, reservations, or fees. A free permit may be required depending on the region (check with Rio Grande National Forest). There are no toilets, water, fire rings, picnic tables, or hookups—campers must be self-sufficient. High-clearance vehicles are recommended due to rough access roads. Nestled in a lush, high-alpine forest near the South San Juan Wilderness, it’s a secluded, peaceful spot with access to hiking trails like the Continental Divide Trail. Ideal for solitude seekers and experienced backcountry campers. Best visited July–September when snow has melted and access is clearest.
