The flow of the creek is primarily supplied by urban runoff and stormwater, as well as some groundwater. There are no major tributaries or dams in this section of the creek. The stream experiences significant seasonal variations in flow, with peak flows occurring during the monsoon season in late summer. Interestingly, the Rillito River used to flow year-round but is now mostly dry due to groundwater pumping and urbanization. The Rillito River is also home to the popular annual Rillito Park Horse Races.
