Inverness Dam
Inverness Dam, located in Camp Horne, Alabama, is a private-owned structure designed by the USDA NRCS for the primary purpose of serving as a Fish and Wildlife Pond. Completed in 1973, this Earth dam stands at a height of 70 feet and spans 400 feet in length, with a maximum storage capacity of 1467 acre-feet. The dam is situated on the TR-CAHABA RIVER and is under the jurisdiction of the Mobile District of the USACE.
The dam has a low hazard potential and has not been rated for its condition assessment as of yet. Despite its moderate risk level, the dam does not have an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) prepared or updated. The spillway of Inverness Dam is uncontrolled with a width of 120 feet, and it has not undergone any modifications since its completion. With its primary function as a habitat for fish and wildlife, Inverness Dam also offers recreational opportunities while contributing to the local ecosystem along the Cahaba River.
