Nelson #6, also known as Nelson Pond, is a private fish and wildlife pond located in Sumter County, Alabama.

Built in 1981 by the USDA NRCS, this earth dam has a height of 17 feet and a length of 800 feet. With a storage capacity of 137 acre-feet and a surface area of 12 acres, the pond serves multiple purposes including fire protection, stock watering, and habitat for fish and wildlife.
Managed by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Nelson #6 has a low hazard potential and a moderate risk assessment rating. The spillway, which is uncontrolled, has a width of 100 feet and a maximum discharge of 400 cubic feet per second. While the dam is not currently rated for its condition, it has not been inspected since April 1984.
The pond, located in the Congressional District 07 of Alabama, is part of the Factory Creek watershed and provides important habitat for local wildlife. Although not regulated by the state, Nelson #6 remains a valuable resource for the community and a focal point for water resource and climate enthusiasts in the area.
