Whittington is a privately owned earth dam located on Wild Cat Creek in Morgan County, Colorado. It was designed by the USDA NRCS and completed in 1953 for the primary purpose of flood risk reduction. The dam stands at 17 feet high with a hydraulic height of 6 feet and a structural height of 12 feet, spanning a length of 532 feet. It has a maximum storage capacity of 263 acre-feet and a normal storage of 60 acre-feet, serving a drainage area of 38 square miles.

Despite its low hazard potential and satisfactory condition assessment, Whittington dam has a moderate risk level due to its location and design. The dam features an uncontrolled spillway with a width of 1100 feet, and has not been modified in recent years. The last inspection was conducted in April 2011, with an inspection frequency of every 3 years, ensuring that the structure remains safe and functional for flood control purposes.
