The reservoir has a storage capacity of 540 acre-feet and covers an area of 12.5 acres, serving the primary purpose of flood risk reduction along the Mud River.
With a low hazard potential and satisfactory condition assessment as of March 2017, Mud River FRS No 9 is considered to have a moderate risk level. The dam is inspected every five years to ensure its safety and functionality.
