Built in 1993 by the USFWS, this earth dam serves as a Fish and Wildlife Pond, with a maximum storage capacity of 52 acre-feet and a normal storage of 14.5 acre-feet. The dam has a height of 8 feet and a length of 197 feet, encompassing a surface area of 9 acres and draining a 0.31 square mile watershed.
The dam is regulated by the North Dakota State Water Commission and is subject to state permitting, inspection, and enforcement. Despite being rated as having a low hazard potential and a moderate risk level, the condition assessment of the dam is currently not rated. With an uncontrolled spillway type and no outlet gates, the dam is designed to manage water flow from Pipestem Creek-TR and support the local fish and wildlife ecosystem. Although the dam does not have a designated Emergency Action Plan (EAP) or inundation maps prepared, it stands as a vital resource for water conservation and climate management efforts in the region.
