The earthen dam, standing at 35 feet in height and completed in 1929, serves a primary purpose of providing water storage for various uses. With a normal storage capacity of 83 acre-feet and a maximum storage of 165 acre-feet, Violet Lake covers a surface area of 3 acres along the TR-Little River.
Despite its low hazard potential, Violet Lake is considered to have a very high risk assessment due to its age and the lack of recent condition assessments. The controlled spillway, with a width of 1 foot, is the primary outlet for the reservoir. While the dam itself is made of earth and stone materials with a soil foundation, it is equipped with a single valve outlet gate for water release. The last inspection was conducted in December 2010, with an inspection frequency of 5 years, indicating the need for regular monitoring and maintenance to ensure the safety and integrity of the structure.
