Mina, also known as Lake Parmley, is a state-owned earth dam located in South Dakota's Edmunds County. Built in 1934 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA), this dam on Snake Creek stands at 32 feet high and spans 360 feet in length. With a storage capacity of 19,000 acre-feet, Mina serves primarily for water resource management purposes, holding a normal storage level of 10,270 acre-feet.

The dam's significant hazard potential is mitigated by an uncontrolled spillway that is 150 feet wide, capable of handling a maximum discharge of 12,400 cubic feet per second. Despite being in operation for several decades, Mina's condition assessment remains unrated as of the last inspection in November 2019. The risk assessment for the dam is moderate, indicating a level 3 risk, with no specific risk management measures or emergency action plan in place.

Situated within the St. Paul District of the US Army Corps of Engineers, Mina's strategic location on Snake Creek underscores its importance in managing water resources in the region. As the dam continues to serve its regulatory and inspection requirements under the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, enthusiasts in water resources and climate monitoring can appreciate Mina's role in safeguarding the local community from potential flooding events.
