Butler Valley is a federally-owned dam in Kane, Utah, managed by the Utah Division of Water Rights. Completed in 1969, this earth dam serves the primary purpose of flood risk reduction along a tributary to Wahweap Creek. With a hydraulic height of 18 feet and a structural height of 29 feet, Butler Valley has a storage capacity of 270 acre-feet, with a normal storage level of 74 acre-feet. The dam spans 600 feet in length and has a drainage area of 3.7 square miles.

Despite being classified as low hazard potential, Butler Valley has not been rated for its condition assessment. The last inspection was conducted in June 2018, with a scheduled inspection frequency of every 5 years. While emergency action plans and risk management measures are not currently in place, the dam has not been modified since its completion. Located in a picturesque setting with important implications for water resource management and climate considerations, Butler Valley stands as a vital infrastructure for flood control in the region.
