Frog Hollow, a privately owned earth dam located in Hurricane, Utah, was designed by the USDA NRCS and completed in 1978 for the primary purpose of flood risk reduction along the Frog Hollow river or stream. The dam stands at a hydraulic height of 51 feet and a structural height of 58 feet, with a total length of 1982 feet. Its storage capacity is 2000 acre-feet, with a normal storage level of 1450 acre-feet, serving a drainage area of 12.5 square miles.

However, despite its critical role in flood risk mitigation, Frog Hollow Dam is currently assessed as having a high hazard potential and poor condition. The Utah Division of Water Rights oversees its regulation, inspection, and enforcement, with the last inspection conducted in May 2019. The dam's emergency action plan status, risk assessment, and management measures are yet to be fully developed or updated, raising concerns about its ability to withstand potential emergencies or disasters.

For water resource and climate enthusiasts, Frog Hollow represents a crucial infrastructure in the management of water resources and flood protection in the region. Its current condition highlights the importance of regular maintenance, monitoring, and updating of emergency preparedness plans to ensure the safety and integrity of the dam and surrounding areas in the face of changing climate patterns and increasing water-related risks.
